The Holy Spirit and The Gifts of the Spirit

I have chosen as my two topics: The Holy Spirit and The Gifts of the Spirit. These are defined as a) The third person in the Holy Trinity. b) A supernatural force and power that acts on behalf of the Father and Son and also the believer. c) Came to bring in the Grace dispensation or the church age between the day of Pentecost and the rapture of the church from the earth. The gifts of the Holy Spirit are the workings and functions within the body of Christ for the purpose of edifying and admonitions to the church.

The Holy Spirit is and has been dear to my heart as I have become a member of the body of Christ. I wish to expound a little on Him and His gifts as pertaining my Christian Life.

The Holy trinity are all equal in essence. They all have always been, from everlasting to everlasting. The Father, Son and the Holy Ghost have no secrets from one another.

The ministry of the three has always been in unison and they live to compliment and love one another. They were here all through the Old Testament working together and are still working together here in the New Testament era. One difference is that the Holy Spirit has been the conduit by which, and connection of, the Father and Son to communicate and interact with man, since the Son’s ascension. The Father had sent the Son (Jesus Christ) to earth as a babe to a virgin.

This was accomplished through the Holy Spirit. He was to be raised up under the law of Moses. Then to be baptized by John the Baptist and to be anointed by the Holy Spirit for service at that time. He underwent testing by Satan and began His ministry, He taught, guided, comforted, preached healed others even saving some then He died for clamming to be who He was. Then He rose alive from the dead on the third day and came forth out of the grave.

This resurrected Jesus was and is now the Messiah the Christ of God, and He lives and reigns forever as our Lord and Savior. He said that He would send another back before He left, One that could be like Him to all believer, one that could dwell in our Hearts and be a guide and comfort to the soul of every believer. The Holy Spirit came to the disciples of Christ on the day of Pentecost. The 120 souls had been waiting in prayer in the upper room. He came in like a rushing mighty wind. Filling men’s hearts with all the necessary tools to live a victorious, joyous, bold Christian life. I believe He still offers the greatest most precious gift to anyone who will seek for Jesus. He brings us Jesus to live inside of us and He brings us to Jesus for our salvation. He truly is a God sent, precious gift Himself. The Holy Spirit has the task of bringing me closer to Christ every day. He dwells in me, I love the Holy Spirit.

Without Him I would be lost. The nine gifts of the spirit are another special gift given to the church of the New Testament era. The apostle Paul spoke to the church at Corinth about these gifts in 1 Corinthians : 12. After the believer has been baptized by Christ into the Holy Spirit, then he should began to seek for the gifts of the spirit. These are important because they (1 help to keep the believer very close to the cross of Christ. (2 Help to edify the believers in the body of Christ. (3 allow the Holy Spirit to have access to their life and use them for the Glory of God. The nine gifts are as follows: (1 Word of knowledge, (2 special faith, (3 word of wisdom, (4 gifts of healing, (5 workings of miracles, (6 prophecy, (7 discerning of spirits, (8 different kinds of tongues, (9 interpreting of tongues. 1 Corinthians 12:11 states “ But one and the same spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills”.

In a spiritually vibrant Church setting, there should be evidence of these gifts working among the believers. They should be evenly dispersed and only used when the spirit moves among the Body. I have been blessed to see and experience some of these gifts myself and I do totally agree that they are needed more today than any time before. We are headed into the last of the last days and we need to be connected to God to be able to hold on strong to the anchor (Jesus) and find stability in Christ by and through the Holy Spirit and the Gifts He brings to us for that very purpose. Amen I would like to challenge each one of my readers to do as the Bible says to “taste and see that the Lord is good”. To go for the extra mile in your own walk the Lord and seek beyond the boundaries which might have been your usual stopping point with God. Allow the Holy Spirit to take you to a high and most holy place prepared for you, if you only will.
